Dear Sir
RE: Sought Clarifications from the Swaziland Government
The enclosed copy of my letter to the Swaziland High Commissioner is self explanatory on the question of sought clarifications from the Swaziland Government concerning my enclosed exile since April 1984.
May I also take this opportunity to thank Her Majesty’s Government for having extended the democratic tradition of the British people to accommodate my stay in this country following the death of our King Sobhuza II. Swaziland is a traditional friend and ally of Great Britain and it is in that friendly spirit that I urgently request the good offices of your Department to impress upon the Swaziland High Commissioner the gravity of my situation and the implication of the whole ugly affair.
I have been living in a Bed and Breakfast hotel for the past two years with my wife and a baby (now 2 years) because the Swaziland Government refused to issue me a letter of safe conduct should I return to Swaziland. They also refused to pay my hotel bills and in pocket expenses despite the fact they physically brought me here under the circumstances described in the letter to the High Commissioner.
The reason for my waiting until now was that King Sobhuza’s successor King Mswati III had not been installed in that period during which my family have been subjected to untold physical, mental and psychological endurance and now at breaking point. More than anything else, my worry is for the 2 year old baby and mother. Background details are also enclosed.
Yours Faithfully
